Scribble Series
The Scribble Series started in my sketchbook years ago as a doodle for an earring. After reconnecting with this sketch, and dismissing it as “nothing”, I encountered a moment of kismet. In the parking lot of a state nature preserve, a sprawling surface of random “scribbles” or dribbles of tar covering the asphalt. A playful doodle by an inspired road paver or totally random, the encounter felt like a confirmation from the universe to let go of my own judgment about what an appropriate subject or inspiration was and just say yes to a risk, yes to impulse, and yes to the spirit of play.
The energy in a scribble can be chaotic, or elegant, soothing or joyful. I love the idea that you can be in the right place at the right time without planning it, if you are just open to the experience and willing to say yes!
